As a newly-birthed (ick) 98% Vegan (technical term), I've been discovering all kinds of fun new-to-me blogs, books, documentaries, magazines, and events to soak up all the information I can get on this little/not-so-little idea of living a plant-based life. I'm a human sponge, people. SOAKIN' IT ALLLLLL IN. Next weekend, I'm volunteering for six hours (whew!) as a cooking demo assistant at Seattle's annual VegFest and am looking forward to meeting some awesome vegheads (how annoying can I be with the vegan slang?) and trying some tasty concoctions.
Recently, I found this amazing magazine called Chickpea that has been inspiring some creativity in the kitchen. A quarterly publication, their design in impeccable and their topics are relevant and seasonal. I love their aesthetic, and the magazine itself is really beautiful to hold – lots of tactile art printing using recycled stock – it speaks to the paper nerd in me.
Chickpea Magazine subscriptions are available here, and they also host a free online archive of back issues for those who aren't able to afford the subscription (way cool). Check 'em out.
